Nigeria’s Asisat Oshoala
has won the Golden Ball
award as the best player of
the 2014 Fifa U20 World
Cup and Golden Boot
having scored seven goals and provided two
assists.
France midfielder Griedge Mbock-Bathy was
awarded the Silver Ball while her compatriot Claire
Lavogez, the Bronze Ball winner.
CANADA 2014 TOP SCORERS
Player Team Goals Penalties Assists
Asisat Oshoala Nigeria 7 1 2
Paulina Bremer Germany 5 0 5
Sara Daebritz Germany 5 1 2
Claire Lavogez France 4 1 5
Paulina Bremer of Germany scooped the Silver Boot
with five goals and five assists to her credit.
Another German Sara Daebritz scored five goals
with two assists to win the Bronze Boot.
German goalkeeper Meike Kamper won the Golden
Glove award as Canada took the Fair Play award.
Germany have won the FIFA U-20 Women's
World Cup for a record-equalling third time
after a hard-fought 1-0 win over Nigeria at
Montreal's Olympic Stadium.
Lena Petermann scored the title-winning goal
eight minutes into extra time to settle a match
that, like the semi-final against France, had
seen the Germans outplayed for long stretches.
For the second match in succession, though,
the Europeans' will to win shone through, as
did the quality of goalkeeper Meike Kamper -
again named player of the match.
This clash of styles and football cultures was
always expected to produce an open, engaging
final, and so it proved. Nigeria quickly gained a
foothold and went on to dominate the first half,
creating the better and more numerous
chances. An inability to convert those chances
was their only failing, and the most guilty party
was tournament top scorer Asisat Oshoala.
The in-form striker, who had scored four times
in the semi-final win over Korea DPR, was lively
throughout but missed her first golden
opportunity after 22 minutes. In fairness, she
created the opening out of nothing, robbing
Margarita Gidion, outpacing the German
defence and rounding Kamper in a stunning
display of speed and strength. She could not,
however, find the finishing touch, managing
only to shoot into the side-netting from an
acute angle.
With Nigeria's superior physical attributes a
telling factor on the big Olympic Stadium pitch,
it wasn't long before more chances arrived, with
Oshoala again given a sight of goal seven
minutes before the break. Again, though, her
sights were out, with the ball flashing wide
after Chiwendo Ihezuo had done well to snatch
possession from Rebecca Knaak at the byline
and cut the ball back.
These were nonetheless worrying times for
Germany, whose best effort had come from a
Lina Magull free-kick comfortably saved by
Sandra Chiichii. But Maren Meinert's side
began the second half brightly, with Theresa
Panfil and Lena Petermann combining to tee up
Sara Daebritz for a powerful left-foot shot that
skidded into the arms of Chiichii.
Oshoala remained a constant source of danger,
though, and she again came to life three
minutes later, jinking in from the left wing past
two German defenders. All that was lacking was
the final touch, with the No4's first effort
striking a team-mate before the rebound was
sliced high and wide.
However, missing chances wasn't restricted to
Oshoala and Nigeria. Germany also spurned
their opportunities, with Pauline Bremer
stealing in unmarked on a Sara Dabritz free-kick
only to head wastefully wide. The Super
Falconets then had to call on the bravery of
their keeper, with Chiichii racing from her line
to dive at the feet of Lena Petermann, picking
up a bruised jaw in the process.
Play still tended to rage towards the other end,
though, and with five minutes remaining
Nigeria had the ball in the net only for their
celebrations to be cut short by the assistant
referee's flag. That left extra time to settle this
pulsating affair and, after Oshoala had again
gone close for Nigeria, it was Germany who
found a breakthrough.
Petermann scored it, slotting home from six
yards, but the plaudits went to the energetic
Bremer, who had robbed left-back Gladys Abasi
before driving towards the byline and delivering
the perfect cutback.
Nigeria, who had given so much to the match,
proved unable to respond. Germany saw out
the remaining minutes with a degree of comfort
and can now savour the familiar feeling of being
crowned champions of the world.
Dear Heavenly Father,
I thank You for this day.
I thank You for my being able to awake
once again, to see, and to hear this
morning.
I'm blessed because You are a forgiving God
and an understanding God.
You have done so much for me and You
continue to bless me.
Please forgive me every day for anything I
have done, said or thought that was not
pleasing to You, and I ask now for Your
forgiveness.
Please keep me safe from all danger and
harm.
Help me to start this day with a new
attitude and plenty of gratitude.
Let me make the best of each and every day
to clear my mind so that I can hear from
You.
Please broaden my mind that I can accept
all things.
Let me not whine and whimper over things
I have no control over.
Let me continue to see sin through Your
eyes and acknowledge it as evil.
And when I sin, let me repent, and confess
with my mouth my wrongdoing, and
receive Your forgiveness.
And when this world closes in on me, let
me remember the example of Jesus -- to slip
away and find a quiet place to pray.
It is the best response when I'm pushed
beyond my limits.
Continue to use me to do Your will.
Continue to bless me that I may be a
blessing to others.
Keep me strong that I may help the weak.
Keep me uplifted that I may have words of
encouragement for others.
I pray for those who are lost and can't find
their way.
I pray for those who are misjudged and
misunderstood.
I pray for those who don't know You
intimately.
I pray for those who don't believe, and I
thank you that You are in my heart and
that I do believe and have true faith in You.
I believe that You change people and You
can change all things.
I pray for all my sisters and brothers, and
for each and every family member in their
households.
I pray for peace, love, and joy in their
homes that they are out of debt and all their
needs are met.
I pray that every eye that reads this knows
there is no problem, circumstance, or
situation greater than You.
Every battle is in Your hands for You to
fight.
I pray that these words be received into the
hearts of every eye that sees them and every
mouth that confesses them willingly.
This is my prayer... and I pray in the name
of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior, Amen

Prayer of the day
24 August 2014
O God, who has prepared for those who love you,
such good things as pass our understanding:
pour into our hearts such love towards you, that
we, loving you above all things, may obtain your
promises, which exceed all that we can desire;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Happy Sunday to u all
Great, O Lord, is your kingdom, your power and
your glory; great are your works, your wonders
and your praises;; great also is your
wisdom, your goodness, your justice and your
mercy, and for all these we bless you and
magnify your holy name, for ever and ever. Amen.
Father, daily we flow in Your divine nature, living
out Your great and precious promises, blessed
with all the provisions of Your benevolent and
bountiful Providence. We are blessed. Thus
Father, we say Thank You, we praise Your Holy
Name, we worship Your Magnificence in the
Beauty and Glory of Holiness, Selah!
Father, humbly we bow before You in all
contrition, beseeching Your tender mercies once
again for the forgiveness of all of our sins,
penitently placing all of our transgressions at
the foot of Calvary’s Cross, leaving them there,
accepting from Your faithful forgiveness all the
blessings of Your amazing grace, the outpouring
of Your gracious goodness, the complete and
total absolution from the stains of sin, washed
and cleansed in the Blood of Jesus. No greater
intercession in all the universe, Hallelu YAH!
Father, today we live out all of Your purpose and
will for us, as we grasp the reality of The
Crucifixion by ourselves dying in obedience to
Your Word, in Holy Communion we find ourselves
located in You, living in You and in power
praying in You. For Father, we are no longer
alive, but Christ lives in us, Selah!
Father, empowered by the Holy Spirit, living in
us, sealing us until the day of redemption, we
ask that You help us to walk out the Word of
God for our lives, that it may live in us as a Holy
seed, an infectious germ, that we might be
contagious Christians, infecting every person,
place or thing we come in contact with. Father,
may Salvation spread like a tidal wave moved on
by the mighty rushing winds of the Holy Spirit,
that no part of this planet be left untouched,
and all the earth sings Your Praise, Hallelu YAH!
Father, make us as light in the dark places,
freedom in the bowels of captivity, healing in the
face of disease, liberation in the valley of
oppression, ultimately dismantling and tearing
the devils kingdom down. Father may the
vanguard of Your kingdom, the ministry gifts,
operate in all the power of Your kingdom,
blessing and touching every where their feet set,
may the spiritual gifts find fertile ground in each
and every Saint, growing and developing in
service, thus glorifying You. May Your Kingdom
come, Your will be done, now and forever, Selah!
Father, bless all the prayers of Your Saints this
day, and most especially our prayers of
intercession, as we present them faithfully and
faultless before Your throne in Glory, eternal in
the Heavens, in the mighty and matchless name
of Jesus The Christ, YAHUSHUA ha MASHIACH,
the Holy One of Israel, and in the potent power
of His most precious shed blood, Hallelu YAH!
Amen
Welcome to 15/08 and the IMPORTANCE OF
YOUR HEART BEFORE GOD is in Acts 15/08-
"And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare
them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost,
even as he did unto us"
The greatest gift that anyone can and must
get from God is the infilling of the Holy Spirit.
This inestimable gift was also given to the
Gentiles when the all knowing God searched
and found their hearts right and perfect before
Him.
The omscient God will never withhold any
good thing from any one with an upright
heart-"the Lord will give grace and glory: no
good thing will he withhold from them that
walk uprightly" Psa.84:11
The state of your heart determines your right
into the very heart of God for undeniable
blessings and greatness just like-:
1.Noah-"But Noah found grace in the eyes of
the Lord. These are the generations of Noah:
Noah was a just man and perfect in his
generations, and Noah walked with God"
Gen.6:8,9
2.David-"he raised up unto them David to be
their king; to whom also he gave testimony,
and said, I have found David the son of Jesse,
a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil
all my will" Acts 13:22
3.Job-"Doth Job fear God for nought? Hast not
thou made an hedge about him, and about his
house, and about all that he hath on every
side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands,
and his substance is increased in the land"
Job 1:9,10
But Simon the sorcerer was outrightly denied
the gift of the Holy Spirit despite being a
believer in Jesus because his heart was not
right-"Thou hast neither part nor lot in this
matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight
of God" Acts 8:21
Your heart is your greatest asset to access the
highest blessings from God unto grandest
accomplishments
O LORD, create in me an upright and perfect
heart to access and possess your highest
blessings, gifts and revelations for utmost
accomplishments in Jesus name.
MAKE YOUR HEART RIGHT AND PERFECT
BEFORE GOD
Good day

# ORACLE FOR THE DAY # tunde-ogunsina#
- The suspected reservoirs for Ebola are fruit bats.
- Transmission to humans is thought to originate from infected bats or primates that have become infected by bats.
- Undercooked infected bat and primate (bush) meat transmits the virus to humans.
- Human to human transmission is only achieved by physical contact with a person who is acutely and gravely ill from the Ebola virus or their body fluids.
- Transmission among humans is almost exclusively among caregiver family members or health care workers tending to the very ill.
- The virus is easily killed by contact with soap, bleach, sunlight, or drying. A washing machine will kill the virus in clothing saturated with infected body fluids.
- A person can incubate the virus without symptoms for 2-21 days, the average being 5-8 days before becoming ill. THEY ARE NOT CONTAGIOUS until they are acutely ill.
- Only when ill does the viral load express itself first in the blood and then in other bodily fluids (to include vomit, feces, urine, breast milk, semen and sweat).
- If you are walking around you are not infectious to others.
- There are documented cases from Kikwit, DRC of an Ebola outbreak in a village that had the custom of children never touching an ill adult. Children living for days in small one room huts with parents who died from Ebola did not become infected.
- You cannot contract Ebola by handling money, buying local bread or swimming in a pool.
- There is no medical reason to stop flights, close borders, restrict travel or close embassies, businesses or schools.
- As always practice good hand washing techniques, but you will not contract Ebola if you do not touch a dying person
- Hotlines for Ebola in Nigeria: 08097979595, 08023169485, 08033086660, 08033065303, 08055281442, 08055329229
The largest outbreak of Ebola in history was
likely started by a 2 year old boy in a remote
village in Guinea according to researchers. The
boy, called Patient Zero in this outbreak, died
on December 6th 2013 after suffering from
fever, black stool & vomiting. That illness has
now been found to be Ebola
Before he died, he infected his mother, his 3
year old sister, his grandmother and a mid wife
who was caring for him when he was ill. His
mum and sister died before the end of
December 2013 after suffering bleeding
symptoms. His grandmother died January 1st.
The mid-wife died by February 11th but before
dying, she had passed the virus to her family
members who died the following month in
March 2014. Continue...
The virus spread from the Southern Guinea
village to other parts of Africa after villagers
from Sierre Leone and Liberia, who share a
border with the village, attended the
grandmother's burial. Two of the funeral
attendees fell ill and the virus spread from
their families to their villages and to health
care workers and family members taking care of
patients. And one Patrick Sawyer brought it to
Nigeria!
How the child became infected is a biggest
mystery as scientist who have traced the the
outbreak this time say they don't know how the
toddler got infected.
So far, 960 people have died from the virus
while 1,779 people have been infected..
Osun state governor and the candidate of the
All Progressives Congress APC has been
declared winner of Saturday’s governorship
election.
The Returning Officer, Professor Bamitale
Idowu Omole, who made the pronouncement
at the INEC collation centre along Abere road,
said “I hereby declare Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola,
having satisfied the provision of the Electoral
Act, is hereby declared the winner of the Osun
state governorship election.”
The APC candidate won elections in 22 out of
the 30 local government areas of the state
scored a total of 394684 to beat his main rival
and candidate of the People’s Democratic
Party, ODP, Senator Iyiola Omisore.
Omisore, who won in eight local government
areas, scored 292747 votes.
A breakdown of the final results shows that
Sen Sunday Fajimi of the Alliance for
Democracy scored 1982; Aregbesola of the. APC
scored -394684, Alhaji Fatai Akinbade of the
Labour Party scored 8898, Senator Iyiola
Omisore of the PDP scored 292747, while the
candidate of the Social Democratic Party, Elder
Sunday Akinwusi scored 534.
About one million voters in Osun State will
today elect a new governor to pilot the affairs of
the state for another four years, but this will be
done amid tight security and tension.
The last one week has seen an unprecedented
influx of security operatives in the state and the
number keeps rising in the build-up to the poll.
Heavily armed security operatives from the
Nigerian Army, the Department of State
Services, the Nigeria Police and the Nigeria
Security and Civil Defence Corps have been
arriving in Osogbo, Osun State capital and other
major towns in the state in large numbers.
Meanwhile, the presence of the security
operatives, particularly military personnel, at
major junctions and entry points into the state
has led to apprehension among residents.
A resident, Mrs. Bunmi Ogunkeye, told Saturday
PUNCH that many voters would shun the poll
because of the heavy security presence in the
state. She said the activities of the security
operatives had been creating fears in the mind
of people.
She said, “Sometimes when the security
operatives are passing in their convoy of
vehicles with sirens, they harass motorists on
the roads and shoot into the air for no just
reason. It is good to have adequate security
during elections but there is a limit. We all
know the excesses of military men.”
Another resident, Mr. Oladeji Okanlawon, said
he would not vote for fear of being hit by stray
bullets.
Okanlawon said he would pray for his preferred
candidate in the comfort of his room.
He said, “With the way things are going, I will
not go out to vote and I will tell my family
members to do the same. With many guns
around, anything can happen. A bullet that is
not targeted at you could hit you even if you
have done nothing wrong.”
However, there are some residents who have
described the heavy security presence in the
state as better than having touts take over the
electoral process like it has been done in the
past.
Twenty candidates are vying for the Osun State
governor’s seat and last minute preparations
were in top gear ahead of the election on
Thursday and Friday.
Some of the candidates include the incumbent
governor, Rauf Aregbesola of the APC; a former
Deputy Governor of the state, Senator Iyiola
Omisore of the PDP; and the Labour Party
candidate, Fatai Akinbade.
According to the residents, the three candidates
are considered the strongest and the ones with
biggest shot at the keenly contested seat.
On Thursday morning, the Independent
National Electoral Commission began the
distribution of electoral materials to local
government areas ahead of the election.
INEC Public Relations Officer, Mr. Kayode Idowu,
told Saturday PUNCH that the “law provides
that a candidate must have 25 per cent in at
least two-thirds of the state and have the
highest number of votes to emerge the winner.
Meanwhile, on the streets of Osogbo, the main
subject of discourse was often centred around
politics and the chances of the candidates in
the poll. Often, residents were sighted in
clusters discussing their preferred candidates.
Findings by Saturday PUNCH showed that
Aregbesola had a stronghold in Osogbo but
Omisore was expected to keenly fight for votes
there too.
Findings by our correspondent who felt the
pulse of residents there showed that Aregbesola
had an edge over Omisore in the capital city,
also considering that his deputy, Grace Tomori,
is from the city.
Aregbesola is also said to be strong in his
hometown of Ilesha, which has two local
governments, Ilesha East and West.
Omisore’s strongest areas are in Ife town, which
has four local governments – Ife Central, Ife
North, Ife East and Ife South. His running mate,
Rafiu Bello, who is from Ede town, is expected
to deliver Ede North and South to the PDP.
In spite of Aregbesola’s suspected stronghold in
Osogbo, residents expect the final results in the
state to be close, considering that Osogbo and
Ife have the largest numbers of registered
voters.
While Osogbo has 110,670 registered voters, the
four local governments in Ife have a combined
figure of 266,891.
Akinbade is said to have a stronghold in his
hometown of Ogbaagba and the neighbouring
Iwo town.
The dynamics of Nigerian politics played out on
Tuesday with the defection of a former governor
of the state, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, an indigene
of Okuku in Odo-Otin Local Government Area,
from the PDP to the APC. But generally,
Oyinlola’s stronghold is in Osun Central
Senatorial District. His influence also extends to
Osogbo.
However, the PDP has been playing down
Oyinlola’s influence in Osun politics in the
build-up to the election.
The Zonal Chairman of the Peoples Democratic
Party, South-West, Chief Ishola Filani, on
Thursday dismissed the defection, saying it
would not affect the party’s fortune in the
state.
Speaking at a news conference in Osogbo, Filani
said, “He left the PDP in Osun State, but the
question is what effect will this have on us on
Saturday?
“And our submission is this. It will have no
effect whatsoever on the fortunes of Omisore
becoming the next governor of Osun State.
Where Oyinlola is coming from, there are many
people to fill whatever gap, if any, that he is
leaving behind.”
Filani expressed confidence in the PDP’s
chances in the election, saying the party had
gone round “the 30 local government areas in
the state”.
He also said Osun residents were tired of the
current government and needed change.
Filani said, “Aregbesola’s government has no
touch with the people. There is nobody in Osun
State who feels the impact of the APC
government just like it is everywhere, in Oyo,
Ogun and Lagos states. And there was a
demonstration of the rejection recently in Ekiti
State.”
He described the PDP candidate as a person
with a track record of success as a former
deputy governor of the state and as a senator.
Filani said, “We want to be in the mainstream of
Nigerian politics and that is why we have
started recovering our lost grounds. We started
in Ekiti State and we are now going to Osun.”
At a separate news conference in Osogbo on
Thursday, Akinbade urged security to pay more
attention to areas he considered hot spots in
the state. He said such local governments as
Atakunmosa East and West, Ife North and South
usually witnessed violence in past elections.
He said, “I want to appeal to the security
agents to monitor flash points to prevent
violence there. Places like Atakunmosa East and
Atakunmosa West, Ife South and Ife North
should be monitored.
“The security agents should also concentrate on
villages where hoodlums used to rig elections.”
Efforts to reach the spokesperson for Osun State
Police Command, Folasade Odoro, for comments
were not successful as she neither picked her
calls nor responded to text messages sent to
her mobile phone.
However, the Acting Inspector-General of Police,
Suleiman Abba, has vowed to crush attempt by
mischief makers to create problems on the
election day. He also defended the deployment
of huge security personnel in Osun State ahead
of the poll.
He, however, created fears among stakeholders
when he asked them to beware of the numerous
electoral offences they could easily fall into.
Citing relevant sections of the Electoral Act,
Abba said, “There are many offences that can
easily be committed. You must beware so that
you don’t fall victim of any of these offences.”
He noted that security agencies would be on
the look out to arrest electoral offenders who
within 300m radius of a polling unit, breach
any of the laws.
“Three hundred metres is a wide area and you
may handle a stone in your hands and it could
be interpreted as being armed, so beware.”
Meanwhile, there has been an influx of people
into Osun, particularly Osogbo, giving hotel
business in the city a major boost.
In the build-up to the election, customers
scramble for accommodation as most hotels in
the town are fully booked or occupied. The
visitors range from journalists to the
Independent National Electoral Commission
officials, election observers and officials of non-
governmental organisations.
The manager of White Plain Suites and Towers,
Ogundipe Bamidele, described the increase in
patronage as a “drastic change”.
He said, “For the past one week, our rooms have
been fully occupied. We are fully occupied in
terms of indoor and outdoor activities. Today,
we have served over 200 people in our banquet
hall.
“Normally, our hotel is one of the highly
patronised facilities in Osogbo with an average
booking of 60 per cent of our rooms, but now we
are fully occupied. People have been begging
us for rooms in the last one week but we cannot
manufacture rooms. We wish we could give
them rooms.”
Bamidele added that the hotel management
had maintained its room prices in spite of the
pressure.
“Our room prices range from N8, 000 to N20,000
and that is what we still charge,” he said.
At Yetty Hotel, Odi-Olowo, also in Osogbo, where
some renovations were ongoing in some of its
25 rooms, all the available rooms had been
occupied during our correspondents’ visit.
The hotel manager, Mr. Akin Oyerinde, regretted
that the management picked the election
period for the renovations.
He said, “We are the new managers, previous
people didn’t manage the hotel very well for
the owner. It was in a very bad shape when we
came in. But all the available rooms have been
taken by some officials who are in Osogbo for
the election.”

China says it may try to create a theology
based on Christianity - that integrates the
religion with Chinese culture and is compatible
with the country's socialist beliefs, it's been
reported.
Wang Zuoan, a senior official for religious affairs,
says China supports the development of
Christianity within the country. But "the
construction of Chinese Christian theology
should adapt to China's national condition," the
state-backed China Daily website reports. His
comments came at a conference for Sinicization
of Christianity in Shanghai.
It's thought there are about 23 million to 40
million Protestants in China - 1.7% to 2.9% of
the total population - and that each year, about
500,000 people are baptised as Protestants. But
China's ruling Communist Party is officially
atheistic and relations with the church have
sometimes been strained. People are only
supposed to worship in places approved by the
government, but many underground churches
operate in China too.
In Wenzhou - sometimes called China's
Jerusalem, where more than one in 10 people
are Protestant - state authorities are cracking
down on what they say are illegal church
buildings, taking away or threatening to remove
crosses at more than 130 Protestant churches
and demolishing some entirely, the Taipei Times
says . It cites experts and church leaders saying
they believe the authorities are alarmed by the
quick growth of Protestantism in the area, and
are trying to suppress it.
Welcome to 05/07 and the PRIZE of PATIENCE is in James 05/07-
"Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain."
Every farmer needs patience for the divine blessing of rain that will transform the seed sown into great harvest!
Patience is one of the grand virtues you must possess if you are to progress into your promised land-"That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises" Heb.6:12
If only you can be patient with God, all your misses and miseries will soon give way to miraculous breakthroughs-" I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord." Psa.40:1-3
Through patience:
1.Noah waited for the fulfilment of God's promise and was saved with his household from the water that destroyed the world.
2.Job persevered through trials, turmoil, tribulation unto a triumphant ending!
3.Elisha also endured servitude under Elijah and was rewarded with double portion of his spirit that made him one of the most anointed men in history!
But through impatience-:
1.Israel prolonged their journey to the promised land by 40years and most of them were wasted in the wilderness!
2.Saul disobeyed God, lost his kingship and died prematurely.
Get hold of priceless patience that will pave your way into unstoppable glory!
O LORD, fortify me with the spirit of patience that will overturn all my miseries and misses into mesmerising and miraculous breakthroughs in Jesus name!
BE PATIENT AND NEVER GIVE UP UNTIL YOU POSSESS YOUR PROMISED LAND
Good morning
GOD'S PATIENT ONE UNTO GLORY
Welcome to 12/05 and the DYNAMICS OF
UNDENIABLE PRAYERS is in Acts 12/05-
"Peter therefore was kept in prison: but
prayer was made without ceasing of the
church unto God for him"
Peter was imprisoned by king Herod to be
killed at an appointed time.
But the church prayed without ceasing until
God answered and gave Peter dramatic
escape-"And when Peter was come to
himself, he said, Now I know of a surety,
that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath
delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and
from all the expectation of the people of the
Jews" Acts 12:11.
One major key that makes your prayer
undeniable before God is your untiring
persistence-"And shall not God avenge his
own elect, which cry day and night unto him,
though he bear long with them? " Luke 18:7
Through persitent and continuous prayers to
God, saints of old enjoyed undeniable and
irresistible answers to their prayers-:
1.Hannah's persistence in prayers opened
her closed womb and overturned her
barrenness into enviable fruitfulness!
2.Elijah's persistence in prayer opened the
heavens for a mighty outpouring of rain that
ended three and a half years of famine!
3.Esther persistence in prayers gave her
exceptional wisdom and favor to counteract
and decimate the diabolical plan of
Haman.The Jews also got unprecedented
deliverance!
4.Hezekiah's persistence in prayers
overturned his death sentence. God then
prolonged his life with 15 more prosperous
years!
5.Jesus' persistence in prayers opened his
heavens for the infilling of the Holy Spirit
that made him the indispensable saviour and
redeemer of mankind!
6.The apostles' persistence in prayers opened
their heaven for the outpouring of the Holy
Spirit that made them amazing witnesses of
Jesus with terrific signs and wonders.
If you don't give up in prayers, your miracles
will soon show up to daze and dazzle both
enemies and friends.
O LORD grant me the spirit of unceasing
prayers so has to open my heavens unto
undeniable answers from God that will daze
and dazzle my generations in Jesus name.
PRAY UNTIL SUPERNATURAL HAPPENS
Good day
GOD'S EVER PRAYING SAINT
Welcome to 01/05 and the ETERNAL DESTINY to be fulfilled is in John 01/05-
"And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not"
The world around you is covered by gross darkness-"For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people" Isaiah 60:2a
But the purpose of God for you is to shine forth his glorious light through you-"but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee" Isaiah 60:2b
As the light of God, you have two agenda to fulfill-:
1.Shine forth-"And the light shineth in darkness" "Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee" Isaiah 60:1
2. Silence darkness-"and the darkness comprehended it not" "That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world" Philp 2:15
Your destiny as Light in your generation is to outshine and overcome all darkness!
1. Joseph was God's light in Egypt that shone through Portiphar's house, the prison and Pharaoh's palace to become the indispensable Prime Minister of Egypt. His light was not overcame by the hatred of his siblings, nor by the immorality of Mrs Portiphar as well as the terrible state of the prison.
2. Esther was God's light in Persia that shone through the palace, the king and Jews to become the indispensable queen. Her light could not be overcame by slavery, death of her parent and terrible Haman!
You are God's light to this generation, how well are you shining to overcome the ever increasing darkness around you-"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven" Matt.5:16
O LORD let your light so shine through me into my world so that all men can see your glory through me while I gallantly overcome every darkness in Jesus name!
YOU ARE A LIGHT TO THIS WORLD, DON'T ALLOW DARKNESS OVERCOME YOU
Happy New Month
GOD'S OVERCOMING LIGHT
Welcome to 18/04 and the INDISPENSABLE
ASSET to RULE your world and RUIN your
enemies is in 2Chron.18/04-
"And Jehoshaphat said unto the king of
Israel, Enquire, I pray thee, at the word of
the Lord to day"
Jehoshaphat and king of Israel needed to
prosecute a war.
But Jehoshaphat understood that battles of
life can only be won by divine counsel-
"Every purpose is established by counsel: and
with good advice make war" Prov.20:18
Thus he placed a demand to know the mind
and the word of God before executing any
agenda!
How diligent are you in requiring God's word
for every detail of your life?
There is a specific word for every specific
situation and circumstance that come your
way!
There is a spoken word from God that you
must hear that will unlock your spectacular
testimonies!
There is a sent word that guarantees your
total healing and deliverance-" He sent his
word, and healed them, and delivered them
from their destructions" Psa.107:20
There is an infallible word that you must wait
for from God to become indispensable to
your generation like Joseph-"Until the time
that his word came:The king sent and loosed
him,He made him lord of his house, To bind
his princes at his pleasure; and teach his
senators wisdom." Psa.105:19-22
There is a profound word that you must
meditate on to make your way exceptionally
prosperous like Joshua. Josh.1:8
There is a creative word that can frame your
from nothing into exquisite glory and
glamour just like in Genesis 1!
There is a word written by God for you so
that your life will not to be written off!
To know and do the written word will make
you never to be written off in life!
To obey the spoken word makes you a
spectacular wonder to your world!
Go after God's Word for your life today and
watch how you become an indispensable
wonder to your world
O LORD fortify me with zeal to always
inquire and do your written and spoken word
so that my life will not be written off but
make me your spectacular wonder to my
world in Jesus name!
YOUR VICTORY IN THE WORLD IS
DETERMINED BY THE VALUE YOU PLACE ON GOD'S WORD
Good day
GOD'S WORD MONGER
Gareth Bale scored a
stunning solo goal to
earn Real Madrid a
dramatic 2-1 victory
over Barcelona in the
Copa del Rey final on
Wednesday night.
After Angel Di Maria's first-half opener was
cancelled out by Marc Bartra, the Wales
international stormed down the left wing -
running half the length of the pitch before
poking the ball past Blaugrana goalkeeper Jose
Pinto with just five minutes to play.
Bale's outstanding run - which started close to
the touchline - saw him leave Bartra for dead
with his pace, before he produced a composed
finish to cap an outstanding performance, as
Madrid won the trophy for a 19th time.
Neymar, who struggled throughout the 228th
edition of the famous derby, then hit the post
with two minutes left as Barcelona fell to a
defeat that signals the end to a disastrous seven
days for the Catalan giants and their under-fire
coach Gerardo Martino.
First, they were knocked out of the Champions
League quarter-finals, with Atletico Madrid's 1-0
second-leg win sealing a 2-1 aggregate triumph
last Wednesday, before suffering a 1-0 loss at
Granada on Saturday that appeared to end their
Liga title defence.
Their latest setback means that they are now
likely to finish without a major piece of
silverware for the first season since 2007-08,
one in which then coach Frank Rijkaard was
sacked.
For Madrid, the victory marks Carlo Ancelotti's
first trophy in charge of the club and he will be
hoping to add to that with success in both La
Liga and the Champions League.
As expected, Madrid talisman Cristiano Ronaldo
was absent as he continues to battle knee and
thigh problems, but Sergio Ramos recovered
from a neck injury to start for Ancelotti's side.
Barcelona coach Martino had hinted that Carles
Puyol could return from a knee injury in the
build-up, but he left the captain on the bench,
as fellow centre-back Bartra returned from a
hamstring strain.
They could have done with Puyol's experience in
the early stages, as Madrid made a fast start,
with Bale flashing an early effort past the right-
hand post.
The tension was predictably high - Isco was
booked within three minutes for a challenge on
Neymar - and Los Blancos continued to pour
forward, with Bale's second shot in as many
minutes going behind for a corner.
Di Maria , so damaging in the last meeting
between the sides, then broke the deadlock in
the 11th minute, finishing with aplomb following
a quick counterattacking move that involved
Isco, Bale and Karim Benzema.
The Argentine fired an angled left-footed effort
through the legs of Jordi Alba and at Barcelona
shot-stopper Pinto, who found the strike too hot
to handle and was unable to stop the ball from
creeping into the bottom corner.
Barcelona's first real chance came after Pepe
and Neymar had clashed, and were booked, as
Alba nodded straight at Madrid's Iker Casillas,
and the defender then got back to superbly
block Isco’s effort after Bale's clever pass.
Lionel Messi shot wide from 20 yards just before
the break - in which Adriano replaced Alba - but
Barca were still sluggish when play resumed, as
Bale shot into the side netting before firing over
six minutes later.
The introduction of Pedro, for the ineffective
Cesc Fabregas, did little to stem the flow as a
Benzema strike was touched onto the outside of
the post by Pinto, before Bale had a goal
correctly disallowed for offside after the
goalkeeper had charged off his line from a
corner.
Pinto was ahead of play, meaning just one
defender was between Bale and the goal, and less
than 60 seconds later the ball was in the back of
Madrid's net, with the effort counting on this
occasion.
Bartra was responsible, with the young defender
losing his marker, Pepe, and rising highest to
head Xavi's 68th-minute corner into the net. It
was a perfectly placed header, but parity lasted
just 17 minutes.
When Luka Modric hit the outside of the post,
the game had seemed destined for extra-time
but Bale was on hand to steal the show.
The Welshman was initially impeded by Bartra
but showcased his speed to storm ahead of his
marker and from there the defender, reluctant to
foul the winger, could only watch on as Pinto
was beaten with a toe-poked finish.
There was still time for Barca to push for a
leveller, but Neymar lacked the necessary
composure when presented with a chance right
at the end, firing onto the post after he had got
in behind the Madrid defence, as Madrid
celebrated a famous win.
A girl aged 12 and three months and her 13-
year-old boyfriend have become Britain’s
youngest parents, it emerged last night.
The mum was just ten years old when she met
the dad and was still at primary school when
she fell pregnant.
The young couple, from north London,
celebrated the birth of their baby daughter at
the weekend and have vowed to stay together
as a family.
The girl is five months younger than the UK’s
previous youngest mum while her mother
becomes one of the UK’s youngest-ever grans
at the age of 27.
A source told The Sun: “The baby’s mum and
dad have been in a relationship for more than
a year, so this isn’t a fleeting romance. They
intend to stick together and bring their
daughter up together.
“Both sets of grandparents are incredibly
supportive. It’s a very difficult situation
because the parents are both so young — but
their families are right behind them.”
The UK’s previous youngest mum Tressa
Middleton gave birth in Edinburgh aged 12
years eight months in 2006.
The world’s youngest mum was Lina Medina
from Ticrapo, Peru, who gave birth to son
Gerardo when she was just five years and
seven months in 1939.
In Nigeria, like in most developing
countries of the world, the menace of
child abuse is not unconnected with
extreme poverty.
Globally, women rights issues seem to
dominate discourse at most human
rights fora, and one renowned rights
activist was quoted to have said recently
that women deserve all the attention
because they produce life.
Not long ago, the UN Human Rights
Office and the Water Supply and
Sanitation Collaborative Council,
organised an interactive dialogue that
explored women’s advances in securing
their rights and dignity in topics related
to water, sanitation, and hygiene, the
elimination of female genital mutilation,
access to sanitary facilities and
materials, and access to health
education.
Recently also, UN photojournalist,
Stephanie Sinclair, exhibited photos of
numerous child marriages around the
world, in what he tagged “Too Young to
Wed” The exhibition at the United
Nations in Geneva, highlighted the issue
of child marriage through more than 30
photographs of child brides from around
the world.
As a journalist and also a lawyer, this
writer has carried out investigative
reports on human trafficking,
particularly in Nigeria, where children
are trafficked from their villages to
urban areas and are turned into family
breadwinners at the detriment of their
education. The children are freely
released by unsuspecting parents with
the promise and assurance that they will
continue their education in the urban
areas, only to end up peddling various
items in the streets. Poverty is also a
major factor contributing to human
trafficking in Nigeria. These are the
dimensions that girl-child human rights
issues have taken on the global terrain.
Nigeria seems to be lagging behind in
this respect.
According to Maalla, a 16-year-long-
distance runner on the matter of child’s
rights and protection, working with
parents, leading private and public
schools, agencies of government, local
and international bodies and having been
in the trenches with the United Nations
Children’s Fund in the last eight years,
she has come to accept that in any
social intervention, direction and clear-
cut goals are more important than
motion.
Child marriage is condemnable in its
entirety. The destructive impact of child
marriage is already in the public domain.
I have kept wondering and imagining the
best way to curb the menace of child
abuse in Nigeria. As far as I am
concerned, justice has not been served
in the matter.
Permit me to comment on the setback,
sometime ago, at the Senate on child
marriage. Let me begin by stating the
facts as they were reported, since every
meaningful public discourse must begin
with the facts of issues.
The Senate had embarked on the
amendment of the 1999 Constitution of
the Federal Republic of Nigeria. It
considered various parts of the
constitution for amendment, including
terms of office of elected officers and
autonomy of local government authority.
Also, the Senate considered for
amendment certain provisions of
Sections 26 to 32 of the constitution,
which deal with citizenship. Controversy
began when the members of the Senate
considered Section 29, which deals with
renunciation of citizenship for
amendment. Section 29(1) provides, “any
citizen of Nigeria of full age who wishes
to renounce his Nigerian citizenship shall
make a declaration in the prescribed
manner for the renunciation.”
Section 29(4) (a) and (b) provides, “for
the purposes of subsection (1) of this
section: (a) ‘full age’ means the age of 18
years and above; (b) any woman who is
married shall be deemed to be of full
age.” The Senate voted to remove the
latter, that is, Section 29(4)(b) and the
vote was successful in favour of removal.
Senator Ahmed Yerima of Zamfara raised
an objection on the ground that the
removal of the provision was ‘un-
Islamic,’ citing Second Schedule, Part 1,
Item 61 of the constitution, known as
‘Exclusive Legislative List,’ which states
‘the formation, annulment and
dissolution of marriages other than
marriages under Islamic law and
Customary law including matrimonial
causes relating thereto.’ The Senator
mobilised certain like-minds in the
Senate and got the amendment put to
vote again and those who had earlier
supported the removal could not muster
the two-thirds majority votes required to
seal the removal. By two-thirds majority
votes, Section 29(4)(b) remains in the
constitution.
Section 9(2) of the Constitution provides,
“An Act of the National Assembly for the
alteration of this Constitution… shall not
be passed in either House of the
National Assembly unless the proposal is
supported by the votes of not less than
two-thirds majority of all the members
of that House and approved by
resolution of the Houses of Assembly of
not less than two-thirds of all the
states.”
Now, flowing from the foregoing facts,
the issue before the Senate was not
child’s rights or child marriageable age
of the Nigerian child. That Section 29(4)
(b) has always been part and parcel of
the 1999 Constitution of the Federal
Republic and the Senate has not passed
a new law legalizing child marriage as it
is being widely circulated.
That in furtherance to the immediate
paragraph, the 1999 Constitution of the
Federal Republic of Nigeria has never
legalised child marriage. The Child Rights
Act, passed into law in July 2003, which
by virtue of Section 12 of the
Constitution of the Federal Republic of
Nigeria is the domestication of the
United Nations Convention on the Rights
of the Child, 1989 is the foundational
law today, recognised by the
constitution, relating to child rights in
Nigeria and the Act has criminalised
Child Marriage in Nigeria.
That in all matters relating to children in
Nigeria, the provisions of the Child
Rights Act, 2003 supersedes the
provisions of all other enactments on
children and other matters by virtue of
Section 274 of the Child Rights Act,
2003.
For the Child Rights Act to be enforced
in the 36 states of the Federal Republic
of Nigeria, the Houses of Assembly of
each state must pass (domesticate) it
into law. Considering the fact that most
of the matters relating to children are
under concurrent legislative list and that
as at today, 24 states of the Federal
Republic of Nigeria have passed the Act
into state Laws, the 12 states that are
yet to pass the Act into Law are: Enugu,
Kaduna, Kano, Sokoto, Kebbi, Borno,
Yobe, Gombe, Adamawa, Bauchi, Katsina,
and Zamfara.
By virtue of Second Schedule, Part 1,
Item 61 of the constitution, known as
Exclusive Legislative List, which states
the areas the National Assembly can
make laws on to include, ‘the formation,
annulment and dissolution of marriages
other than marriages under Islamic law
and customary law including matrimonial
causes relating thereto,’ the best option
of stakeholders in the life of the child is
to put pressure on the state
governments of the northern states,
which have not passed the Child Rights
Act into the state laws to do so. As it is,
it appears the National Assembly does
not have power to legislate on the issues
relating to the formation, annulment and
dissolution of marriages contracted
under Islamic Law and Customary Law.
In the alternative, stakeholders should
agitate for the amendment of Second
Schedule, Part 1, Item 61 of the
constitution, to read ‘the formation,
annulment and dissolution of marriages.’
Though the Child Rights Act, 2003 is not
a perfect piece of legislation, it has gone
a long way in providing a formidable
legal and social frameworks for the
protection of the rights of the Nigerian
child in the spirit of the United Nations
Convention on the Rights of the Child,
1989 and African Charter on the Rights
and Welfare of the Child.
Liverpool took a huge step
towards their Premier
League title dream with a
3-2 victory over
Manchester City on an
emotional day at Anfield.
Philippe Coutinho's late strike took Brendan
Rodgers' side seven points clear of the visitors,
who had hit back to level things up at 2-2 after
falling two goals behind in the first half.
The hosts looked to be easing to a 10th
consecutive Premier League triumph on Sunday
after goals from Raheem Sterling and Martin
Skrtel capped a dominant first-half showing.
With City having been robbed of the Yaya Toure's
services in between those two strikes due to
injury, Manuel Pellegrini's woes were mounting.
But David Silva turned the game on its head with
a goal early in the second half before the
Spaniard's effort was deflected in by a
combination of Glen Johnson and Simon Mignolet
to equalise.
However, there was time for one last twist in the
tale - and one that could ultimately end
Liverpool's 24-year wait to be crowned
champions of England - as Coutinho pounced on
Vincent Kompany's woeful clearance to fire in a
dramatic 78th-minute winner.
Jordan Henderson's late dismissal mattered little
in the context of the game as the result ensured
that the destination of the top-flight crown now
rests exclusively in Liverpool's hands.
Anfield fell silent before the game to remember
the 96 Liverpool fans who lost their lives at
Hillsborough 25 years ago, with supporters of
both clubs paying their respects.
Liverpool, unchanged from last Sunday's 2-1 win
over West Ham, set a high tempo from the start
and deservedly took the lead inside six minutes.
Luis Suarez split the City defence with a pass
that picked out Sterling , who deceived Kompany
- named in the starting line-up despite struggling
with a knee injury - and Joe Hart with some
excellent footwork before firing home Liverpool's
100th goal in all competitions this season.
Sterling then provided a superb right-wing
delivery for Daniel Sturridge in the 14th minute
but the England striker's close-range effort
sailed wide of the far post.
City's hopes suffered another blow when Toure
pulled up injured three minutes later, having
appeared to twist his knee with an earlier off-
target shot.
His replacement Javi Garcia was booked for his
first tackle on Henderson as the visitors
struggled to get to grips with the game.
Hart came to City's rescue with a stunning one-
handed save to keep out Steven Gerrard's
header, but the Liverpool captain's delivery from
the subsequent corner was nodded in by Skrtel
after 26 minutes.
A rare City attack saw Edin Dzeko denied by
Gerrard's well-timed block before a rash
Mamadou Sakho challenge sent the Bosnian
tumbling in the box, only for referee Mark
Clattenburg to wave away the visitors' half-
hearted penalty appeals.
The home side survived a couple of late first-half
scares as Mignolet produced a full-stretch save
from Fernandinho's off-balance volley, the
goalkeeper atoning for his error of judgement at
a corner in the previous minute, which forced
Sterling and Johnson to scramble off the line.
Silva did reduce the arrears 12 minutes after
the break with a tap-in from substitute James
Milner's cross and the Spaniard's delivery was
almost turned in by Dzeko two minutes later as
City cranked up the pressure.
And the leveller arrived just past the hour mark
after Samir Nasri slid in Silva, whose shot across
the face of goal took a deflection off Johnson
and wrong-footed Mignolet.
But Liverpool had the final say, Coutinho
curling home on the turn from inside the box
after Kompany's limp attempt at a clearance.
Henderson was sent off in stoppage time for a
wild challenge on Nasri but the title is now
Liverpool's to lose.

Welcome to 14/04 and the PLATFORM for
your standing is in Romans 14/04-
"Who art thou that judgest another man's
servant? to his own master he standeth or
falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for
God is able to make him stand"
One nature of God is that HE is much
more than able to STAND you out when
the world around you has condemned you
to fail and fall-"When men are cast down,
then thou shalt say, There is lifting up;
and he shall save the humble person" Job
22:29
1.Joseph was condemned by his siblings
into slavery and Portiphar condemned him
into prison. But God brought him out of all
his miseries and gave him enviable
standing before Pharaoh-"The king sent
and loosed him; He made him lord of his
house, and ruler of all his substance:To
bind his princes at his pleasure; and teach
his senators wisdom" Psa.105:20-22
2.Moses that was condemned to the
wilderness as wanderer was later made by
God to stand out as a wonder to all
generations-"And there arose not a
prophet since in Israel like unto Moses,
whom the Lord knew face to face,In all
the signs and the wonders, which the Lord
sent him to do in the land of Egypt And in
all that mighty hand, and in all the great
terror which Moses shewed in the sight of
all Israel." Deut.34:10-12
3.David that failed to be selected into the
army of Saul was made by God stand up
and defeat Goliath and stand out in Israel.

slave was made to stand out above every
other virgins to become the enviable
queen of Persia!
No matter what, God will keep you from
failing and falling now and forever-"Now
unto him that is able to keep you from
falling, and to present you faultless before
the presence of his glory with exceeding
joy" Jude 24
O LORD, strengthen me to stand out from
all my failings till I become your faultless
standard of outstanding lifting for all to
see, wonder and envy in Jesus name!
YOU ARE CREATED TO STAND OUT, DON'T

GOD'S OUTSTANDING ONE
Welcome to 07/04 and the key to DIVINE
PLEASING & BLESSING is in 1Sam.07/04-
"Then the children of Israel did put away
Baalim and Ashtaroth, and served the Lord
only"
God is a jealous God that must be served and
worshipped devoid of every other idol or
god!
You must purely purged yourself of
everything that contends with God in your
life and heart.
Only then can you be a partaker of God's
exceptional promises-"Therefore come out
from among them, and be ye separate, saith
the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing;
and I will receive you, And will be a Father
unto you, and ye shall be my sons and
daughters, saith the Lord Almighty."
2Cor.6:17,18
1.Abraham needed to put away the idols of
his forefathers and serve the only living God
before he could partake of divine covenant.
2.Ruth needed to put away her comfort zone
of Moab and serve the true God of Israel in
order to become one of the favored fore-
mothers of Jesus-"how thou hast left thy
father and thy mother, and the land of thy
nativity, and art come unto a people which
thou knewest not heretofore" Ruth 2:11
3.Saul also needed to put away all his self
righteousness and self acclaimed religiousity
in order to serve Jesus. This made him one of
the foremost apostles of Jesus-"But what
things were gain to me, those I counted loss
for Christ" Philp.3:7
Until you put away every sin, idol, worldly
lust, vain pleasure, self righteousness,
comfort zone and indulgence, your service to
God can not be well pleasing unto accessing
divine promises.
"Having therefore these promises, dearly
beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all
filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting
holiness in the fear of God" 2Cor.7:1
O LORD, help me to put away every idol and
sin that take your place in my heart and
make my life well pleasing in thy sight unto
inheriting your exceedingly great and
precious promises in Jesus name!
YOU MUST PUT AWAY EVERY IDOL FOR GOD
TO PUT ON YOU EVERY BLESSING
Good day
GOD'S WELL PLEASING & BLESSED ONE
The Ogun State Police Command, on Friday,
paraded 10 suspects in connection with a
baby making factory located at Sebanjo
Crescent, Fagbunle Bus Stop at Akute area of
the state.
Eight of the suspects were pregnant young
women, whose ages range from 16 to 21.
Saturday PUNCH learnt that the factory was
being run by the prime suspect, Angela
Chidozie, who also lived in the four-bedroom
bungalow with her husband and children. Her
husband was said to be currently on the run.
The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Mr.
Ikemefuna Okota, said the arrest was made
possible following information from the
community.
He said, “I have stressed the importance of
community policing. We got information
yesterday that Chidozie was keeping pregnant
juveniles in her house.
“After the mothers give birth, Chidozie would
sell the babies for N3m or more while the
mother of each child would be given a
pittance. When we got to Chidozie’s house
yesterday, there was no one in sight. We left
and when we later returned, we discovered
that five of the girls were hiding in one room.
“They were immediately taken into custody.
Three more girls were later discovered to have
been hiding in a wardrobe in one of the
rooms by the policemen that we left behind.
In fact, one of them fainted and had to be
rushed to the hospital.”
Chidozie was later found in a dilapidated
wooden building in the vast compound where
she reportedly hid.
Okoye added, “Some syringes and herbal
medications were recovered from the scene.
Investigation is on to unravel Chidozie’s
partners because she was definitely not
working alone.”
Chidozie, an indigene of Abia state told
Saturday PUNCH that all the girls had come to
her after they were impregnated.
She said, “I have been in this business since
last year; I also combine it with herbal
medicine. These girls came to me on their
own to assist them sell their babies and I sell
each for N100,000 to childless couples. I
have sold five babies so far. I don’t have any
baby making factory because the girls did not
get pregnant when they were with me.”
One of the mothers, 21-year-old Vivien
Princewill, who wept profusely, said she was
advised by a friend to see Chidozie.
She said, “When I found out I was pregnant, I
couldn’t tell my boyfriend. A friend of mine
who was aware of my predicament, directed
me to Chidozie’s house.”

By the time you are reading this, at the very
minimum the Minister of the Interior and the
head of the Nigerian Immigration Service
should no longer be in their positions.
For the first time in my life, I honestly feel
ashamed to call myself a Nigerian. But a
Nigerian I am and a Nigerian I will always be.
As it had been for a number of years now, the
NIS held a paid recruitment exercise. In the
wildest imaginations of those who conceived,
planned and executed this scam and sham, at
no time did they envisage the bewildering
events of Saturday, March 15, 2014. The over
520,000 applicants that suffered all through
Saturday clearly demonstrates the hopeless
state of unemployment and underemployment
in Nigeria.
The NIS looks like a great public organisation
to work for. From ‘tips’ to ‘runs’, this
glamorous paramilitary arm of government is
a place of “limitless” possibilities.
Yearly, some of the applicants on that fateful
day had unsuccessfully undertaken the same
harrowing recruitment exercise. With the
reality of their everyday existence staring
them in the faces, many chose to believe the
impossible — may be Saturday, 15th March,
2014, would be their breakthrough!
A medical doctor colleague of mine (let’s call
him Humphrey) was fortunate enough to have
escaped from the jaws of the NIS recruitment
scam. In 2007 while working as a resident
doctor in a Lagos-based private hospital, he
earned a monthly gross pay of N100,000.
Frustrated by his standard of living, some
friends advised him to apply for employment
into the NIS as it was his passport to
abundance in life.
Convinced, that year, he obtained the form
and on a Saturday, he showed up near the old
Federal Secretariat, Ikoyi, Lagos. He was
dressed in a clean, well pressed shirt and dark
trousers with a matching tie. He had a low
haircut and his “teddy” (beard) was perfectly
styled.
To his surprise, he met thousands of
applicants in white T-shirts, white shorts and
white canvas shoes — he was the odd man
out. He hurriedly bought a white T-shirt,
white shorts and white canvas shoes for
N300, N250 and N1,000 respectively. There
was a syndicate around the corner selling this
merchandise to desperate applicants, for,
without the kit, one would not be allowed to
partake.
They were instructed to run from the start
point to a school somewhere in Ikoyi. The
gate of the school would be shut after the
first 100 persons had entered. Though there
were road safety officials at strategic
junctions along the route they were to take,
there were no ambulances or any sign of
emergency medical personnel. No checks
were conducted to ascertain the general
physical fitness of the applicants (including
pregnant women) before the run commenced.
The whistle sounded and off they went. Ten
minutes later, a breathless Humphrey stopped
running and trudged on till he reached the
gate of the school — a journey of over 45
minutes. The gate was already locked and he
swears that there was no sign that anyone had
entered the gate. It was at that point he
realised that he still had an option. He could
go back to his N100,000 per month job and
that was how he was never again tempted to
apply to the NIS.
Today, he is a resident doctor at the Lagos
State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja; and
come next year, he will become a consultant.
But this is not the story of the typical under-
employed or unemployed Nigerian! At the last
count, at least 17 “innocent and exploited”
Nigerians had lost their lives in at least four
centres (Abuja, Minna, Benin and Port
Harcourt), including some pregnant women
and their unborn babies. This brings me to
the concept of “Only in
Nigeria” (#OnlyInNigeria).
#OnlyInNigeria would a recruitment exercise
for less than 5,000 persons involve over
520,000 persons on a single day; hundreds of
thousands in each stadium.
#OnlyInNigeria does online/social recruiting
take a back seat in an era where even
university entrance exams are beginning to be
conducted online! A multinational firm once
asked us to recruit a hundred people for an
entry level role. We planned to shortlist three
times that number (i.e. 300) for the physical
interviews. Our advert on an online job portal
generated over 16,000 applicants.
We were then able to shortlist about 200
persons that met our requirements. In the
case of NIS, the criteria for short-listing
should have been more stringent so as to
reduce the number of eligible candidates.
They should have targeted no more than five
or 10 times the final intake for the physical
interviews (i.e. about 25,000).
To select the 25,000 over a period of weeks,
the 520,000 candidates should have written
supervised online tests in large Internet-
enabled ICT centres that are available in major
cities across the country. The NIS, for the
21st Century, must be digital-enabled with a
digitally savvy workforce. It should have
engaged various exam bodies who are
experienced in handling large scale
examinations!
#OnlyInNigeria would the head of the NIS and
Moro, the Minister for Interior, neither be
sacked nor prosecuted until there is an
outcry!
#OnlyInNigeria does greed blind the eyes,
dull the senses and allow parochial political
and selfish economic gains to supersede the
common good!
#OnlyInNigeria does a public recruitment
exercise lead to an increased maternal
mortality rate — Millennium Development
Goals.
#OnlyInNigeria are dead victims blamed for
being impatient and unruly!
#OnlyInNigeria do serving public officers
reject blame for what is obviously a
recurrent, unrepentant and unrelenting case
of greed, corruption, ineptitude,
incompetence and wickedness!
#OnlyInNigeria do public “overlords” blame
everyone else but themselves for failure to
lead or manage!
#OnlyInNigeria do political holders set up
“their own committees and stick around to
salvage the mess they created” — no shame,
no conscience, no sense of responsibility!
What then is the true value of an unemployed
Nigerian in the eyes of the Nigerian
government?
The answer is obvious: N1, 000. That’s why I
say “Moro Must Go” (#MoroOut)!
